Scottish Statutory Instrument
Section 93 of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 amended the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) (Scotland) Act 1997 by inserting a new section 73B. This section makes provision for urgent applications for works to buildings on Crown land which are listed or which are in conservation areas and provides for such applications to be made directly to the Scottish Ministers.

Under the Building Act 1984 the responsibility for ensuring compliance with building regulations may, at the option of the person intending to carry out the work, be given to an approved inspector instead of the local authorities. The procedure is dealt with in the Building (Approved Inspectors etc.) Regulations 1985 (S.I. 1985/1066) which come into full operation on 11th November 1985.

These Regulations revoke the Shipbuilding Regulations, 1931, which were designed for the safety, health and welfare of persons employed in the construction and repair of ships in shipbuilding yards. The present Regulations, which are wider in scope, are designed for the safety, health and welfare of persons employed in the construction and repair of ships and vessels in a yard or dry dock and in the construction and repair of ships (but not of vessels other than ships) in a harbour or wet dock.

Scottish Statutory Instrument
These Regulations bring provisions of the Children (Care, Care Experience and Services Planning) (Scotland) Act 2026 (“the Act”) into force. The Bill for the Act received Royal Assent on 15 May 2026. By virtue of section 70 of the Act, that section together with sections 67, 68 and 71 came into force on 16 May 2026.

This Order amends the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (England) Order 2015 (S.I. 2015/596) (“the GPDO”). The GPDO provides, for the purposes of section 59 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 (c. 8), for the grant of planning permission for certain classes of development without the requirement for a planning application to be made under Part 3 of that Act. The classes of permission, known as “permitted development rights” together with their accompanying conditions, limitations and restrictions, are set out in Schedule 2 to the GPDO.
